Wedding videography at Castaway in Portland, Oregon
Portland, Oregon has become a really popular location for destination weddings. I think that couples feel that if people are all ready coming from all over why not bring them to a magical place that they have never seen before.
Portland has some really great things going for it. The food and drink scene is very strong. Any lovers of beer, wine, or spirits will have a easy time finding a cozy bar to settle down in for the afternoon. Foodies will be right at home with the amazing combination of high quality restaurants that also provide a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Portland is the epicenter of the "farm to table" movement which finds even your local dive bar offering amazing plates of food.
Portland is also great for the outdoor types. Portland straddles the banks of the Willamette River, which flows north through the city center and separates the city's east and west neighborhoods. Less than 10 miles from downtown, the Willamette River flows into the Columbia River, which happens to be the fourth-largest river in the United States! Holy Cow!
The Columbia River an understated wonder. Follow it east and you'll find yourself in Hood River. A hour car ride from Portland, Hood River is a town for all outdoor enthusiast. World class wind surfing, amazing hikes and amazing breweries. Well worth a day trip if you’re in Portland.
Adam and Emily live in San Francisco and it was clear that they were really enjoyed being in a new city. The couple got ready at the beautiful Sentinel Hotel. The Sentinel provides excellent views of the city that we were able to take advantage of for both photos and video.
After getting ready and first looks the ceremony took place at the amazing Castaway . Castaway is located at the edge of the Industrial Pearl District. It's an amazing building that was apparently built in 1929 and was once the home to the makers of yellow strand rope used in the original Portland Street Car.
In 2007, Castaway was restored and has become one of the better places to get married in Portland. The building is an absolute stunner. Adam and Emily seemed to agree, feel free to check the tape.
