Cape Kiwanda Wedding Video - Marisa & Tony

Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon, is one of the most beautiful locations on the Oregon coast, which is saying something. Fair warning: to see the most impressive views requires a trek up a large sand dune on the right side of the beach. But trust me, you want to walk up this dune.

Once you’ve reached the top, you and your party will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. You will see the water smash into massive, rugged, twisted rocks that rise from the sea. One of the prominent rocks is often referred to as “The other Haystack Rock”. The views here are simply stunning.

The rocks are made of sandstone which is always in a state of erosion. Traversing this area should be done carefully, as the rocks on the edge of the cliffs can and will crumble from under you. If you decide to cross the gates, be very careful.

But don’t let this warning keep you away from this gem. There are plenty of safe options for you and your wedding party.

For small elopement style weddings I think Cape Kiwanda is a phenomenal location. It’s incredibly romantic and any wedding photographer or videographer will have endless inspiration for out-of-this-world photo or video footage. Not only are there beautiful views at the top of the dune but during low tide you can sneak around below the cliffs and find more incredible locations to shoot.

If you have the time I would recommend staying at The Inn at Cape Kiwanda. Located right on the beach, it’s a great place for your wedding party to get ready. You and your guests can walk from the hotel room directly to all the desirable locations.

Another perk of the Inn at Cape Kiwanda is that the staff offer a custom fire pit for you to enjoy as the sun is setting. They dig the hole, provide chairs and get the fire going for you. It’s very romantic. I couldn’t think of a better way to cap off a beach style elopement.
